"Most Dangerous Cities"
One comes across interesting articles at times. A lot of folks perceive Colombia to be horribly dangerous, mostly due to the movies and forgetting that the country has moved forward since the days of Escobar.
Well, according to this article, Pereira is the 35th most dangerous city in the world according to the murder rate. However, they did the study with old population figures and ranked Pereira at 46.14/100,000 - but their figures were off. Pereira had a population of 481,129 in 2010, NOT 383,623 like the article claims. It makes one wonder what other errors they committed in their research. Also, it would be interesting to know what percentage of the murders are due to the illicit drug trade. Here in Pereira the percentage is quite high. For the record, two US cities are more dangerous than Pereira according to this article.

When an article gets something as simple as the population of a city wrong it really does make me wonder about the reliability of the rest of the article. This one popped out at me since the population figures shown are WAY low, at least 15 years out of date - something that was obvious since we live and work here and are familiar to a certain degree with the population increase the city has been undergoing.
Yup, St. Louis makes the list a little on the lighter side
than you. Same thing here, most of the murders are contained to the north side of the city proper in the gang controlled areas.
Lots of cities in Brazil on the list.
Sounds like it maybe the most dangerous country over all.
Lots of cities in Brazil on the list.
I was thinking that one of Brazil's cities had the highest rates. Maybe it depends on which study one uses I guess
Of course I am sure it is true for most of the cities that the distinction is earned by only certain parts of the population/city.
I think the Norwegians are BSing their stats. nm
.
I am REALLY suprised
expected to see Sodom, I mean Thugville, no I mean SEATTLE in the mix!
Lots of cities in Brazil on the list.
Brazilian law really favors the crooks. Also, there are a lot of crimes that go unreported there, I'm sure.
Lots of cities in Brazil on the list.
In parts of Rio de Janeiro it's as much as your life is worth for you to go into certain parts of the city as an outsider. The favelas are not healthy places to visit. Captain Cox hangs out down there, but seems to favor the other areas of the city...
Nope Muslim Gang rapes and thugggery a BIG problem in
far Northern Europe...

Of the Troops & For the Troops
Sweden bought that problem when their lax immigration
policies welcomed half of north Africa with open arms. Now they get to pay for it.
Still, they will need to import a lot more Swedish-Africans to make the aforementioned list.
Yup, St. Louis makes the list a little on the lighter side
The gangs and thugs have spread to S. St. Louis too. I make it a point to avoid all of STL unless absolutely necessary. When I have to go there, I am well armed.
Current Nordic 'detective' fiction has quite a bit of social
commentary about how their 'generous and compassionate' political open doors, have admitted a bunch of free-loading thug ass-biters from barbaric civilizations, SLUMS now; dangerous slums -- created by blind wishful thinking about human behavior.
