mcassil, how is the PT111 G2 serving your wife?

I have been playing with a number of compact nines in the shop, S&W Shield, Bersa BP, Ruger LC9, KelTec PF9, SA XDS, Walther PPS, Kahr P9, and finally both the Taurus 709 and the aforementioned PT111 G2. All have an assortment of attributes (and detriments) but the G2 seems to fit me best. However, given the often less than enthusiastic reputation that Taurii seem to be burdened with, I need a real world opinion.

Money is no object here, I can buy any of the above pistolas. However the G2 calls to me. So, actual data?

I believe I shot Marks in MO a month ago. I know I saw him shoot a few magazines through it and it seemed to function well.

My brother bought one awhile back. I know he's not shot more than a hundred rounds through it (he's a hunter; not a shooter) but he's happy with his. I made him a holster for it and I was surprised at how nice it was made. Admittedly, it's a modern high production polymer pistol, but it seemed to be well out together. I hadn't .45 Millenium years ago that was a good little handgun and I've thought of picking up one of the G2's to try out myself. Taurus still has a bum rap from the 80s. Most of their product I've seen in the past few years has been just fine with me.

I have the PT140

Only problem I ever had was one bad magazine. It has never stuttered otherwise. I do NOT like Heinie straight 8 sights however and it took me shooting it to figure that out. Some people love them.

We're liking the thing.

Runs fine, only issue is one mag won't lock the slide back when empty. Tried to call them about it once, gave up after waiting for next available rep for a while.
Pistol digests everything I've fed it without complaint, and trigger is quite good once you get used to it. The feel is like a two-stage trigger with a really loonng take up, and a much nicer break than any Glock I've ever handled.

I have to say, playing "cops and robbers" when it is slow in the shop brings me back to that G2 every time.

What I'm looking for is something to split the difference between my Glock 32 and my Kel-Tec P32. In reality, the G2 is only an ounce or two lighter than the Glock.....until both are loaded with a full magazine. The it becomes a more noticeable difference. I wish it weighed to or three ounces less than it does, but then you are looking at a single stack mag compact 9mm, and I don't seem to be comfortable with those on the shelf.

Think I will retire the P32 and try the G32.

Thanks!
