new [ to me ] little Colt Police Positive 22 WRF
i like the small frame S&W 22s, the I frame, and picked up one with 6" barrel with the adjustable / target sights
[ made in 1923 ].....and it has superb action / trigger and is amazingly accurate and fun to shoot....so then i wanted to see how the Colt equivalent of a similar setup with adjustable sights would be......however the Colt Police Positive 22s which are about the same size and weight as the S&W I frame, are often very expensive ....so i keep bidding......and finally did get a good buy [ under 200 $ ]
on one by getting one chambered for the 22 WRF....which just may be an even better choice for small game ,etc.
from the serial number this one was made in 1910; this little revolver has some wear to the finish, but mechanics and bore look perfect, trigger is light and crisp......and i have at least 700 rounds of 22 WRF so it is not impractical for me.
also wonder if I could try the Jim Taylor trick that he does with the 22 mag: cut off the base of a fired 22 wrf and use it as a conversion or shim by placing a 22 lr into it, then using it.
Very nice.
NM.
As long as Winchester makes a run of ammo
every couple years, I would enjoy it with no fuss. I see WRF at gun shows here all the time. Great price!
Nice. Good find.
.

that would be so nice !
That is really neat.
I was looking and looking for one in .22 WRF (I have 6000 rounds of Rem Special ammo) and couldn't find one so finally ran into a Police Positive Target .22 LR and bought that. What a neat gun. I really like the WRF cartridge and can only imagine that you will really like that revolver.

i think so; you got a good one though, hard to find one in
22lr that is not really pricey or really beat up.
wow, you have a stash of the ammo! i bought my ammo years ago, to use in a 22 magnum uberti 1873 SRC BUT the base of the 22 wrf is larger than the 22 wmr and the 22 wrf just jammed in that 1873 ! i have heard lots of folks say their 22 magnum rifles are superbly accurate with the wrf round.
AWWWW MAN...
Are you in for some fun with that little thing. I have found the .22 WRF to be a dandy little cartridge - more potent than the .22 LR and not so loud and destructive as the .22 WMR. My old Single-Six loves it - I rarely shoot magnums anymore, and haven't had the LR cylinder in the gun since I discovered the WRFs.
that is good news! exactly what i was hoping !
I had bought 12,000 from a widow but let 1/2 go
to a friend to cut my cost. I should have kept it. I bought a Remington 12CS just to shoot it although my original intent was to shoot it in my Single-Six.

i have been thinking about those remington 12s, and
bidding on them too. but they are getting hard to get as well. and the other alternatives, like the winchester 1890 or higher yet unless they are real dogs.
you got quite a windfall getting that many of those rounds !
