I was given a bag of brass by Jim at Bucky O'Neill Guns. These 300 Win mags were there. they are yours for the asking.

He got a nice Sako 300 mag this spring to hunt elk with and we need to work up a load for it.
Much abliged brother
What bullet do you have in mind?

I have been shooting a 300 Win Mag for the last 14 years, until I picked up this 375 Ruger, it has always been my go-to rifle. I load mostly 180gr and 200gr bullets, and have had excellent results with RL-22, IMR4831, and IMR7828SSC. Once the cases have all been fired in his rifle, I highly recommend neck sizing only for case life, mine usually suffer from loose primer pockets before anything else. Bullets I like; Nosler Partitions, Speer Grand Slams, and Barnes Triple Shocks.

I have loaded for my 300 for near 20 years now
by Fowler, Monday, August 05, 2013, 00:10 (4133 days ago) @ Dave B
The plan is to create two loads, a reduced practice load using H4895 and a 180 gr boat tail and a full snot load with ether the 200 gr Partition or the 180gr Partition. My rifle doesn't seem to care for the 200s but loves the 180s so no big deal. I have killed 10 or 12 elk with the gun and load so I know it is setting him up right. My rifle really likes H4831 for whatever reason but I have a fresh pound of RL22 ready to go to try as well. Like you said once they have been shot in the gun I just neck size the brass so we will have to keep his brass separate from mine. Trying to have him a supply of both loads will be greatly helped with Robb's offer, I have a few new cases to spare but not enough to set him up with a good supply of both..
My brother doesn't reload (although he wants to learn) and is a disabled vet from head trauma issues who has just gotten into big game hunting hard here in the last two years. I have been trying to get a day where he can get up here to the house and do the loading with me but it looks like I will just have to get some rounds loaded for him to get going this year. It's the least I can do for him I figure. We are going to hunt deer and antelope for sure this year and I may go on his elk hunt just depending on how the season shakes out...
