School is about to start here in Clarksville.
So, does the discrict send thank you letters to the folks
that refuse to send their kids?
Also "two-dozen workers will carry 9-millimeter handguns." Coincidence, issue, or required caliber?

Over 50 hrs. safety, range, force on force training.
About 40 more than the academy requires.

I may be nieve here but if I was going to train and allow some select staff to carry in school I would sure as hell try and do it quietly (I know wishful thinking). That way hopefully when word got out to the parents that would assume it would be the wild wild west, the adminstration would be able to say "well it hasnt been an issue for the last 4 years they have been carrying"...
Reguardless the key would be that no one but the adminstrators can know who does and does not carry. If everyone knew Mr. Peterson carried and a kid wanted to massacre the school they would lay low until they could get Mr. Peterson first and then go to work.
My wifes a teacher who used to teach at Platte Canyon where Emily Keyes was held hostage and killed, its something I think needs to be allowed but very carefully.

Other than the superintendent only one other staff member has been identified public.
In a small town no secret last long.
In the public school, as administrators, you do nothing in secret.
That's great, Tom
Wish they would do that here, but you can bet the Nashville media (especially that scurrilous fishwrapper the Tennesseean), would have a conniption.
