Skeeter/Bear Hug grip question

by Charles, Friday, July 12, 2013, 15:55 (4096 days ago)

I had Deacon Deason make me three pair of Skeeter Skelton grips and bought three more pair of his over the counter Staminia Wood grips in the same style, more or less. I have managed to let them all go except one pair of hand made and one pair of Staminia grips for the SB K frames. Y'all see where I am going with this.

I think I need to put one pair on the new Model 19, and I will go with the hand made set. But there is a problem. When Deacon made these, there is no relief of any kind on the left panel and any case larger than a 22 LR won't eject without catching on the wood. I was going to send these back to Deacon, but I never got my round tuit, then he up and died on me.

I guess that job now falls to me. I have the Stamina wood Bear Hugs to use as a template, but I don't remember what the original grips of Skeeter looked like on the left side. Anybody got a pic, they can post. I can only take wood off once and I want to get it right.

'Best' pic I could find
