what kind of a scope mount is that?

IIRC, the scope mount was made by Weigand and was 'featured' on a revolver
shown in a mid-1990s issue of American Handgunner magazine.

HTH :-)

This is the gun & scope mount I was referring to above.

The related article is the first of several posted @ jackweigand.com

As you can see, the 'custom' version of this scope mount was ventilated; the one that
I found on the shelf at the LGS a few years later − and still have on my 617 − is not.

HTH :-)

On a related note...

Before 'graduating' to the PDP4, I tried a couple of Tasco PDP3s in the Weigand mount for a while (10-min and 3-min dot models). The 617 with those looked more like the 'Cover Gun' with its PDP2.

The PDP2 was supposedly the 'best', most rugged Tasco dot scope, but I never had one. The '3' and '4' worked fine for my application: .22 Revolver.

Moreover, the PDP4 has a 45-mm tube, so even if doesn't quite make HD, it is most definitely WIDESCREEN. :-D

Thanks for the info

IMHO, the aesthetic is somewhat.... unbalanced.

The wood looks better than rubber, but it doesn't really compensate for that IR illuminator-looking optic. Before I could stop it, my free association ran down a rabbit hole in my mind and came back with "M3 carbine" and "Vampir".

My apologies; some of my best friends are optics.

Best looking one I own, by far.

You're right, of course

FANTASTIC − literally − is probably more like it.

At least for most of us. ;-)
