Pocket carry ...

by Flatlander, Sunday, July 07, 2013, 12:09 (4102 days ago)

I have been working on this myself.

The first thing I have noticed is that pockets are different sizes depending upon one's girth. A J-frame sticks out of the top of my front pocket while a buddy wearing the same model of blue jean has room to spare.

An LCP would seem ideal. I carry one in a proper pocket holster but sitting at my desk hunched over reading, the top of my thigh goes numb. Otherwise a very reliable pistol. I do have one of the Glock Tec Kydex trigger holsters to add carry options and am a fan of those.

Pocket carry of an XDS is out of the question. Though tucked under my shirt in one of the Kydex trigger guard holsters, it hides easily and has proven to be a damn fine pistol.

An NAA Pug 22 Mag has so far been the only all day every day pocket gun I can tolerate.

Life would be simpler if I could stand to go around with my shirt untucked. But that ain't happening.

and Guayabera Shirts are very popular with certain well dressed, well armed men. Most of them are part of the Gunsite family.

If is saw me with an un-tucked shirt. Ingrained into me very young. Even in high school we were not allowed an un-tucked shirt at all. Girls had to wear dresses. Even to this day you will never see me with an un-tucked shirt. But I believe the un-tucked shirt is todays style. I would really like to but I would be ashamed and cannot help it LOL. Seems an un-buttoned and un-tucked shirt over a "T" shirt would sure make carrying a lot easier if it wasn't for my vainess.

I know of a little leather company that makes a couple tuck

Comforting to be carrying a 9mm with 1/2 box of ammo (with spare mag in a pocket pro).

Over here in redneck country, a short-sleeve fishing shirt is the style, worn tails-out. Unless it's blistering hot, it can be worn unbuttoned over a t-shirt (with appropriate artwork of course). That will conceal most anything a fellow would need to carry. Combat Commander in a strongside pancake for me most of the time, but a j-frame in the pocket when it gets much above 90 degrees.

Solution is...drum roll please...

by Charles, Sunday, July 07, 2013, 13:03 (4102 days ago) @ Flatlander

But looser jeans and give up on the "Wrangler butts drive girls nuts", look. I carry either an LCP or Walther PPK in my pocket all day and feel no discomfort of any kind.

Too old for the girls as a worry ... Am on a horse most days of the week, loose jeans are a pain in the butt then.

And I ain't built for them anyway.

At the office? Fill me in.

Out and about, options appear to be limited only by activity and the heat index.

FWIW, I agree

But like I said: I have 'limited' experience. ;-)

Just lucky, I guess. :-D

One place I *can* see it working

by FOG, Sunday, July 07, 2013, 18:58 (4101 days ago) @ Byron

• J-frame (What else? − LOL)
• Cargo Pocket (Jacket − *NOT* pants)
• Strong Side ('Optional')
• 'Properly Angled'

AFAIK, very few 'pocket holsters' meet these requirements.

In fact, the only one that comes to mind is The Cozy™ by Mitch Rosen Gunleather.

I have 'enough' holsters for now, though.

(Not to mention Slip Covers :-D )

Any scenario that allows a cover garment ...

by Flatlander, Sunday, July 07, 2013, 19:23 (4101 days ago) @ FOG

Rules out the pocket it would seem.

My various carrhart jackets will allow just about anything. 60 degrees or cooler.

108 degrees ... The challenge.

Once again, all correct in my view

by FOG, Sunday, July 07, 2013, 19:47 (4101 days ago) @ Flatlander

I should have added, 'One hand on the gun, the other holding the leash.'

Or words to that effect. ;-)

O' course, a feller can carry a shotgun that way, too.

Just sayin' :-D

and a KelTec 380 is the biggest that will fit. I never pocket carry though, unless you count an iphone and a folding knife.

My pockets are big enough...

That pocket carry of an LC9 is no problem. With one of Rob's pocket holsters, of course.
