FAL pictures
I meant to post these earlier but must have gotten side tracked. I picked up my new FAL Monday after work. It's a sweet feeling rifle! Heavy but solid feeling; I can't wait to get it to the range. Action feels nice and smooth, trigger is decent. Only bummer in the whole deal was that it was supposed to be threaded 5/8-24; same as my .30 cal can. Turned out to have left handed threads, I'm assuming the standard 9/16's lefty. I'm on the hunt for a thread adaptor...
It's got a railed fore end so I put a MagPul AFG on it. I need to get some ladder rail covers for a lower profile. It also has a DSA SA-58 railed top cover. So, I put a Vortex red/green dot on it as well as a Brunton 1.5-5x scope I swap out on one of my AR's. both optics sat too high, being set up for a flat top AR, but I liked them. I'm thinking for my eyes the low powered variable will be the best bet. Just need to get some lower, standard scope rings for it. I've also got the original hand guards and top cover if I want to go for the smooth look. I may try one of the Ergo pistol grips for it to lessen the steep grip angle on the standard FAL.
Anyways, here's a few pics I took after I picked it up.
Like a fool, I sold off all my surplus .308 after I sold my M-14's, so I only have match grade stuff around. Luckily I have a good amount of brass and just received about 600 150gr soft points I bought off of ARFcom. Just need a few pounds of Varget or 4895 and I'll be good to go for awhile!
