Cabelas comes through again. Flat top 44 Mag .

I almost felt like I was doing something wrong as I asked them their best cash price off the $499 on the tag. Since it was just put out yesterday they would only take $10 off. Not converted.

Appears it could be a GREAT find...is that an XR3-RED GF?
by matt/pa , Tuesday, June 18, 2013, 13:49 (4180 days ago) @ Andrew
that graying gripframe appears to be an XR3-RED gripframe. Those were introduced in late 1962 (s/n in the 27XXX or greater range). I can't read the picture on your gun but it appears that it could be one of these...if so, that is one very scarce gun...
Either way, if it has the standard XR3, it is one heck of a great price on a flat-top.
Congratulations,

Good eye. It does indeed look like it could be an XR3-RED.
They have some great deals from time to time.

Interestingly enough, they had a FT 357 in another case

In no better condition for over $900. I was a bit nervous asking for a better price actually, thinking they might notice that the 44 was way underpriced.

Several years ago I bought a blued Guide gun that was less than a year old for $480 out the door. It had a Aimpoint scope that sold at the time for $429.99. Not sure what they were thinking when they priced it. The guy looked at me funny when I offered him $450 OTD for it. But he did meet me in the middle. They were asking $489.99 + tax.

for $575 a few months ago. I went back a couple days later to spend money I really shouldn't have been spending on toys, but it was gone. Today I said, "not again".
