Excuses for not carrying - let's do a poll
1) I'll have to buy a size larger pants {buy pants with some stretch or a skinnier gun}.
Excuses for not carrying - let's do a poll
They don't make pants one size larger than I wear now.
BUT, you carry!
So yer good....

I would keep one in the truck, but they do far too many random vehicle searches.
THE ONLY EXCUSE FOR NOT CARRYING IS
A METAL DETECTOR.
Amen!
Amen!
Bring a stout cane and wear a heavy leather belt with a heavy brass buckle if you do have to travel behind the unarmed curtain.

Dang near naked during the summer (i.e. shorts and t-
shirts), no place to carry it OR gotta go to a gun free zone (e.g. courthouse) and don't want to leave it in the car.

When I'm in court, I'm not allowed to carry under Kansas law. We have armed security in the Courtroom, and frankly, with some of the nutjobs I deal with, I don't want anything they could use as a weapon close to them.
Not being legal to carry is a different story - I'm aiming
For those who legally could but don't.

YOU MAY BE NEAR NAKED WITH T-SHIRT AND SHORTS (I REFUSE TO WEAR EITHER) BUT YOU ARE NAKED WITHOUT A GUN.
NO EXCUSES ever!!!
you have to carry all the time , even in the bath tub!!!
Now, that is hard corps! I appluad your dedication &
I am humbled...

In the front pocket works great.

Probability of being searched when
legality might be questionable is the only excuse I can imagine. Just got back from riding the bike. With their random stop and frisk operations 'round here it's too much of a risk to carry since they've outlawed riding while armed. Even metal detectors don't always stop me, I've bluffed myself through more than one checkpoint by asking a question as to how to get where I'm going in the building. Only gov't buildings have managed to snag me so far, and they are all equipped to cache your weapon while on the premises. Ironically, I've managed to get into them with a pocket full of ammo (I ALWAYS unload prior to handing over my weapon) every time. The other situation is when the president comes to town so they declare a "no carry" policy for the duration, or elections or certain holidays the same thing happens. As mentioned above, a heavy cane and other items have to fill in during such occurrences.
I work on a military installation
Same here and they get WAY too excited to catch a fellow trying to provide for his own defense.
The sniffer dogs are just as effective as a metal detector by the way.

I just get tired of dragging a gun everywhere....
but I invariably do.
My oldest son is 5' 7"weighs 135 lbs and carries a Hi Power
About half the time - if he can conceal that, anybody can.
Kel Tec P32.....
....at 8.8 ounces you have no excuse. I installed the factory pocket clip, which can be had in right or left hand.
I have mine stoked with a Glaser Safety Slug up the spout, followed by Silvertips. Been thinking about giving it to the wife and picking up a PF9, ala Byron.
In any case, Don't leave home without it!
Otony
It's not technically illegal for me to carry..
but if I get caught doing to I will lose my pistols from anywhere from 6 months to forever.
I also work somewhere that it would be illegal, even if I could carry without bending the law.
So I carry rather sparingly.
Forgot to add something......
........been wearing shorts and a t-shirt for a couple of weeks and manage the P32, a large Benchmade Griptillian, cell phone, wallet, pen, and keys.
The key is shorts that require a belt..........
Otony
at 8.8 ounces you have no excuse....yep!
leave it right there and add on something more substantial!

"For those who legally could but don't."
That lets me off the hook right there.
'The rest of the story' is 'CLASSIFIED'...

I carry an M&P compact in the pocket of my cargo shorts
With no problem.
I bought one of the web operator belts - to most people
It's just another web belt but it is a lot more substantial.
Exactly what I use.....
.......the one I have is from The Wilderness, who I think may have been the originators of the idea, or at least one of the first manufacturers. They had (have?) some sort of "in" with quite a few of the Gunsite instructors back in the day.
Best. Belt. Ever.
I also have a sharkskin belt from Rafter S for dress occasions.......

Excuses for not carrying - let's do a poll
Not legal for me to CCW now but just completed CCW training for Ohio and will be submitting my application at my July appointment time, then I will carry when I can. XD9C or PT380 or Star PD.
at 8.8 ounces you have no excuse....yep!
And you would be right, as usual. It is what I wear in the shop, as we have several Glock 21s stashed, along with a Mossberg 500. Outside it is usually replaced by a Glock 32, but the PF9 could serve in lieu of both for general hot weather wear.
The Glock 32 is still my out of town gun, that or a 1911. Been carrying an Ithaca LAPD 37 in the truck for awhile now too.
Belt and suspenders..........
Otony
I just get tired of dragging a gun everywhere....
Amen. Same gun, same place, every day.
NO EXCUSES ever!!!
I don't take tub baths, only showers, BUT - there is this small leather pouch in the magazine basket next to the "throne"......
Dat's ma boy!
Young man with exquisite taste in weaponry.....
Shorts with a belt is about all I buy
The ones with elastic won't stay up with my car keys in the pocket, let alone a sidearm...
NEVER....
do I openly discuss when and where I carry.
Capisce?
Against my employer's workplace policy.
And I would never go against policy.

You could always carry an NAA Mini...
...where Captain Koons carried The Watch:

I carried against my employer's workplace policy...
...when I worked for many years at an office job in Nashville. We were located in a pretty bad neighborhood, and after a couple of employees were accosted by gangstas, the corporation's owner asked me directly if I carried a gun. I 'fessed up, and he said, "Good job, son, keep it up!" Company policy continued to dictate no weapons, but he made it clear to all concerned that I got a pass.
Don't ask, don't tell
When I worked for the state, it was most definitely against policy to carry at work. Of course, none of us would ever violate policy, not even when, as we frequently did, we had to deal with unhappy and potentially hostile "clients".
We had a great boss. If he had ever asked if we were carrying, we would never have lied to him. He never asked, so we didn't tell, but he always knew who he could count on if things went south.
I have worked for several companies with such a policy...
And never paid any attention to it. When I was working midnights as a cashier in a gas station, they said they would fire anyone who brought a gun onto the premises on the spot. I told them to go ahead and fire me, their job was not worth my life. They never did fire me, even made me employee of the month. Other employers never asked, I never told, they may have suspected, but if they asked me to go into harm's way, I did not go unarmed.
Not only would I not violate company policy...
...but I especially would not advertise on the internet that I violated company policy. Posting from a work computer. While at work.
-AaronB
I've been in a similar situation and I'd like to say
that Colonel James Harmon was a GREAT boss. I hope to see him again some day, in the sweet by and by...

I was actually looking for lame excuses for not carrying to
Prove a point, not the legal or policy issues. You know who you are...
Yeah, I caught that Tom.
"It's too heavy."
"It's uncomfortable."
"I don't go to those places."
But,
nothin' ever happens 'round here. Everyone is an upright citizen, not like over in Chicago and such. I got my carry permit for when I go to the big city, there's no reason to carry in this little berg.
We had a drive by shooting (but not a hitting) right in
front of the house, aimed at somebody (maybe) in the park across the street. Knife point robbery in that same park, not 200 yards from the house. Stolen bicycles dumped in the neighbor's yard. Drug arrest evaders trying to hide on the front porch. Hmmmm, yep, all loaded and ready to go.

Sincerely,
Hobie
I've known many people who could legally CWP but don't
Among non-gun people, the usual reason is their disinterest in firearms, which varies from mild to pathological.
Among gun people, the most common refraint is, 'I don't feel any need to carry in [INSERT PLACE NAME HERE].'
It's a 'free' country − and most certainly a personal choice.
