Logical?
I just checked on a handgun purchase from Gun Broker. The seller sent it to me in California yesterday from Washington state. I checked this morning, expecting it to say arrived in L.A. since CA and WA are on the same coast. Instead it says it arrived in Memphis TN. The estimated delivery date is next Monday.No wonder they charge so much, shipping packages half way across the country for no logical reason.

profitable business.It;s probably much cheaper for them to have one central sorting facility and they can still get it to you in time.
I have customers agonizing over the direction their packages go via USPS; but with well over 50,000 packages shipped, we have had very few late and I can count what THEY have lost on one hand. When Runion initiated Priority mail, free boxes free pick up he made the PO competitive. The PO would still be solvent but for the will of the Democrats.

just north of Memphis. All shoes except those going to Footlocker and clothes as well. The concept works so well for them that they are building a million+ square foot facility next to the shoe distribution facility for the clothing line. They already have one there but are putting them side by side to realize MORE savings. It works for them!

Back in April we ordered books for my wife's online college courses she'll be taking this summer. Ordered them ASAP after they confirmed her enrolment in the classes so we'd have a chance to get 'em in plenty of time. Paid close to $100 for priority super fast international. Went online after a couple days to check their progress - they were sitting in Chile. At least they got the seaboard right, but the extreme opposite end of the continent, for crying out loud! No wonder the PO's got problems, they've hired geographically challenged folks to run the place. Yesterday we finally got word that the package is sitting in customs, now to wait for the efficient government workers to "do their thing" and send it on down to Coffee Country.
At least your incident has a plausible explanation (one national sorting hub). I can't for the life of me understand how the USPS messed up our package destination. Oh, and classes started on Monday - sans books except for the ONE title we were able to order in Kindle format.
