Copper cases?

I found an old box of these today. Empty, primed, .38 S&W full copper cases. Cool as a display piece, and I can't recall seeing copper cases ever.

Hmmm, if they belong to the box they wouldn't be copper,

would they?

The end flap says:
38 S&W
(COPPER)

I never saw any in that box that I remember as being

copper and I couldn't read the end flap, hence the question. That's very interesting indeed! Thanks for sharing.

Copper cases?

Would they have been used for blanks?

From what I've been able to find...

They are for black powder or wax bullet loads. The .38S&W is a low pressure round, and some of the posts I found said they were OK for standard loading data, just a shorter case life than brass.

They're real. I sold several boxes of them on the internet a few years back. I got them from an estate sale. I'm not certain if they were intended for a specific application, but I have had several boxes of them.

They have a very large flash hole. NM

whilst wandering through a gun show. They do indeed have a large flash hole and some were loaded with wax bullets. The seller threw in a cardboard tube with a bunch more wax bullets. I have used them for informal mouse hunts. Haven't bagged one yet but it sure makes 'em squeal.

I always wear a tux on my mouse hunts . nm

Most Minnesotans don't have their tux fit to go over Carharts.

But, they haven't been put away yet. Usually around Independence Day but then only for the rest of the month....usually. ;-)

they are for a nail gun or a stud shooter. I bought 500 off e bay and they were sold for reloading but they have thick walls and seating a bullet makes bulges and just don't work. They need to be inside reamed.J.Michael

Holy frijoles. I've used .22 powered ones.....

And those are impressive for what they can do.
