I have two .38 Special J-frames, a 638-1 and a 342.

Loaded with cartridges in brass unplated cases, the head of the round under the hammer of the 342 quickly tarnishes.

In contrast (LOL), the cartridge on center in the 638-1 remains bright, and it's the other four that go dark.
