1) Custom 624 by Bill Davis

For reasons I can't explain but probably don't have to, I am always looking at .44 Specials. Not necessarily to buy, but just appreciate.

The first 'oddball' up today is a custom-built 624 by Bill Bavis of PPC fame. The pics aren't so great, but it looks like just the ticket for the discriminating .44 Special afficionado with less than perfect eyesight.

The port seems kind of superfluous, but a Davis-built comp would at least be well-made and functional. Overall, I think it's pretty cool (and priced 'right').

2) Plumbing The Depths Of The 1911

I'm pretty sure this is the first and only time I've ever seen pipe fixtures substituted for 'custom' gun parts. :eyepopping:

Interesting; will it be as cool as a King's Custom gun 30-40 years from now?

King's vs. Davis in 2043

by FOG, Monday, April 29, 2013, 19:56 (4171 days ago) @ Rob Leahy

I think the Coolness Coefficient varies more with the Observer than the Object, so it's kind of hard to say.

In terms of investment value, as long as there are collectors, I would guess that King's would always come out on top.

Bill Davis is pretty well-known, but King's is an icon.

Very few gunsmiths − or crafstmen of any type or trade − are ever so honored.

dremel tools.

I fervently wish some folks, when struck with the urge to DIY, would just go buy a glock and a wood burning kit.

I looked into pistolsmithing with *pressure fittings*

Evidently, it offers the usual benefits − (increased velocity, less recoil, blah, blah, blah...) − plus NO TRANS FATS!
