The problem I have in the SRH, SBH and RH with both the Lee 310er and the Ranch Dog 265 is that the "ogive" of the bullet hits the forcing cone and forces seating the bullet deeper than need be so with that bullet shape it would have to seated even deeper. That said 18.5 grains of slow (H-110 speed) WC820 is the most accurate load I have ever shot out of the SRH.

What kind of velocities are you seeing with that bullet?

...with this bullet, and that was 17.0 grains of 296, for right at 1100 fps from a 7 1/2" Ruger Super Blackhawk (all pressure signs appeared mild). Accuracy at 25-30 yards was fine, but at 75-80 yards some of the shots appeared to be tumbling. I think this bullet is right on the edge of being stabilized at that velocity, and a little more velocity would make a big difference. I'm pretty sure that whoever designed this bullet, designed it with the Super Redhawk in mind (note the 2 crimp grooves), and I suspect that they were pushing things much harder than I was. A longer barrel could help too.

All you would hear is a loud "WHOCK" when it hits the target. :-D

How long is it? Would normal 44mag twist rates stabilize it? A baffle strike would ruin a fella's day.

It's thick enough. Front sight is on the barrel band but I have a new sight. My problem is my machinist can't fit the reciever in his lathe. I don't have the means to remove the barrel. I'll also have to shorten the mag tube a bit but I can handle that.

My can is a Thompson Machine Isis-9. It uses gemtech multimount rear mounts and I have a fixed barrel mount in 1/2"x28 and 5/8"x24 along with a booster and an Uzi barrel nut mount.

an option would be a custom mandrel turned down to a tight fit in the receiver and then the chamber at the very end with a transverse small bolt or set screw as a drive dog. Steady rest and tailstock center, then thread. Not ideal, but still centers everything on the bore as needed.

I go just a little over 1100 fps with the Lee 310 grainer and it was straight on at 50, not sure beyond that. It is a one holer mold so I don't reach for it very often. Most of my molds that I use now throw six at a pour.
