Update on the Bowen M1917
The 247 grain Keith 454424 SWC (sized .454") over 5.5 grains of Unique gave mediocre accuracy, but shot high. The 225 grain TC-HP (modified Lee TC mould) shot to POA, and grouped fairly well. These sights are clearly regulated for hardball, so I just cast up a bunch of the Lee 235 grain TC, and a 225 grain RN-FP I had Mountain Molds make for me (both of which conveniently drop from the blocks right around .454"). We are homing in on a solution.....(more to come).....
I recently bought the Lee 220-230 (?) TC Mould...
It's one of the new ones with steel pins and seats. Looking forward to trying it but have some 230 Penn Bullets to exhaust first. Trying to find a good load for my Sig. Settled on 8.1 HS6 with 230 FMJ bullets but when seating the cast TC bullets to 2.20" where they feed properly its obviously a lot hotter seated that deep. Book says its safe but I will probably try 6-6.2 Unique and see how that works. I want something I can trust to not hurt my 1917 Colt.
