Just heard on the local news that someone discarded a carcass that was dog like and it was skinned with the paws cut off. So of course they thought some one was torturing dogs. They then found it to be a coyote and of course pronounced it ky o tee(pet peeve of mine). They then discovered much to their chagrin that it was perfectly legal to take a coyote in Colorado with a small game license and that skinning them for their pelt was not considered torture. Where have all the metro sexuals come from? They also reported that pelts are going for around $100. I used to hunt them back in the 80's when the price was that high but the price dropped. Need to get the 223 out and see if I can make some gun money

However, around here, I don't think we've had weather cold enough to get good fur on 'em. We used to have a bounty. Apparently it worked. Coyote numbers (pick your pronunciation) are down in many parts of the county.
As an aside. I've been told by friends that the state trapper has taken 138 fox off their farm. Admittedly, they have a "dump" for dead stock but that's a lot of fox and when the coyotes are around, the fox move out or...
That said, we've had a number of folks come into the shop to get "coyote rifles" and ammunition for same. Mr. Coyote is going to be well chased.

Well, here in MO where I reside I prefer to use the pronunciation of ki yo tay. Not for any reason, other than because it sounds more sofisticated to mon petite madmosele who speaks Spanish, you see. If I can get a laugh out of mon petite madmosele I'm happy. Her laughter delights my heart.
However, when i've heard the ki yo tay yapping in the back yard I've found that walking out on the back deck and yelling, "migra! migra!" sends them running quicker than the .223 Remmington does. Especially in the dark where they can't see the black stocked, black barreled rifle anyway. 
I'll go ahead and applogize now for adding to this discussion without having anything useful to contribute. I guess it comes from my not having a job and therefore idle hands have given voice to idle thoughts that have been running rampant in my noggin. I reckon I'll go load some ammo now. That'll keep me from being idle and thinking thoughts that come out on the keyboard and and then the message board and all.

Here in the Peoples Socialist Paradise of Washington we had the same thing. The vitriol and threats against whomever may have done it would earn the maker an investigation and maybe some hoosegow time if they were made in any OTHER venue and about any OTHER subject.
