Smith & Wesson M48 6" barrel in shop......
....we are going to put it out for sale in a few days. If anyone is interested, I can get price and a better estimate of condition. At a glance, it appeared to be between 85 and 90%, but I had about 30 seconds to look at it.
An older gentleman came in to redeem a .45 Colt Model 25 today. 6" barrel, worn grips, very well used Hunter holster, but the gun itself was in excellent condition, just a hint of muzzle wear. Both he and the rig looked like they had "seen the elephant". Would have liked to had a chance to talk about how he used that particular resolver.....

Took a hard look at the M48 today. Action is super slick, lockup was extremely solid, excellent bore. Sights were clean and crisp, with a Patridge post front. Service trigger and hammer, Magna stocks.
No dings, dents, or scratches, in either the blue or the grips, however there is a considerable amount of blue wear along the entire left side of the barrel. A very, very small amount of minute freckling near the cylinder latch. The blue loss area is bright, no patina.
Asked the boss what he was going to sell it for. He said let's look at the pawn ticket. Ticket was marked 75 bucks!
Blue Book lists this model in 80% condition as worth $250 (the owner estimated it at 70 to 80%, btw).
Told me if he put it out it would be around 300 plus. Then he dropped the bomb. If I wanted it I could have it for $175!
Guess who now owns a .22 Magnum K22?
Guess who ordered a SS .22 Long Rifle cylinder assembly from Numrich?

It doesn't pay to work in a gun shop, or does it?
I'd have broken my arm reaching for my wallet...

Sure it pays
Sometimes, it just pays the Owner.

Otony, gitchee some .22 WRF (Winchester Rim Fire) ammo and try in that magnum cylinder. CCI and Winchester currently make it. 45 grain solids and hollow points running about 20% faster than high speed .22LR in a 6" barrel.
Turned my Single-Six into a whole new thang.
