ETA: All five items are TAKEN

Back in the day, my favorite sixgun calibers were .22 Long Rifle and .44 Magnum.

Mostly, I think, the latter (no small thanks to reading A LOT of EMK).

In recent years, I've lightened up some. :-D

This being so, I've decided to divest myself of what I used to call The .44 Magnum Shrine.

Since the items shown here came to me free or nearly so, out they go under pretty much the same conditions:
• you pay shipping
• if you want, you can also throw in a few bucks for gas (lol)

I also suppose the 2400 would have to go UPS instead of by US Mail, so the cost would vary on that one.

Unless combined with that, the other items would go Priority Mail, as usual. If it goes separate, the only one that will fit in a Small Flat Rate box is the Javelina Alox; the others would have to go in Medium Flat Rate boxes.

Here are some pics:

TAKEN - Full, sealed, unopened can of 2400 (price marked "3.90")
TAKEN - Full, sealed box of 50 W-W "Empty Primed Shells" (note the type-written label; price marked "3.70")
TAKEN - Full stick of Javelina bullet lube (price marked "89¢")
TAKEN - Open, but full box of 100 "PERFECAST" 429421s (from San Francisco of all places)

I'm not sure, but I think the W-W primed brass might be fairly valuable; it does appear to be very old. The other items, probably not so much, but I think they're still kinda cool.

TAKEN - Last but not least, there is also this item, which is self-explanatory except for one thing: I think it's pretty much "NIB", but I've never touched it, and I see no compelling reason to now as I am not very knowledgeable about bullet moulds.

First "I'll take it" (or "them") by post here or email wins!

Good luck! :-)

Forgot to mention: On the shipping cost

by FOG, Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 22:02 (4277 days ago) @ FOG

Any method of payment except credit card would be fine, and you can pay before or after receiving your item(s).

I guess the primed brass would have to go by UPS, too, so the shipping cost would vary one that one as well.

Do you have a taker on the bullets and...

by rob @, Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 23:02 (4277 days ago) @ FOG

javelina lube? I would send along some gas money and shipping for them:)

I do now ;-)

by FOG, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 00:09 (4277 days ago) @ rob

Email me your snail mail address, and I will ship you the box of Perfecast 429421s and the boxed stick of Javelina Alox ASAP.

On a side note, I originally had two boxes of these bullets, but I picked the one in lesser condition in terms of the box itself and loaded them up.

It was a moderate load of 15.0 grs of 2400 with a CCI 350 primer in .44 Magnum cases and a stiff crimp.

I fired 50 of them with ZERO leading problems.

The other 50 went to a friend a few years ago; I'm pretty sure he shot them, and I would guess he got the same results.

About the dbl-cavity 429421 mould

by FOG, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 00:36 (4277 days ago) @ FOG

Glen gave it to me, so I'm pretty sure it's the real deal and good-to-go.

All it needs is a good home. :-)

2400 HazMat

by cas, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 01:05 (4277 days ago) @ FOG

The powder would need to be shipped as Hazmat, and IIRC doing so is NOT just a simple matter of paying the extra $25 fee.

44 Brass

by Fivegunner @, LOWELL Mi., Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 04:06 (4277 days ago) @ FOG

you don`t need hazmat for primed brass, but the 2400 would . anyway if I had the brass I would just load and shoot it. :-D

UPDATE: Mould taken; Two items left

by FOG, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 08:37 (4276 days ago) @ FOG

The Lyman mould is spoken for.

Items left:
1) Vintage can of 2400
2) Vintage W-W primed "shells"

On the 2400 and the brass, I gather shipping the former is 'complicated', but I will leave both items up for a couple of days just in case.

Meantime, I appreciate the info/feedback on the HazMat issue. :-)

44 Magnum Brass

I am a 44 Magnum fan and will be happy to have the brass. It will be shot!

Brass... I would like it and it will get shot. Unprimed brass can be mailed or sent ups. Primed brass and ammo are different.

You got it

The brass is primed

by FOG, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 09:22 (4276 days ago) @ Charles

And if you still want it, it's A-OK with me if you load and shoot it.

It might be better left alone, though.

I don't know if the phenomenon is confined to old loaded ammo, but I would sort of expect the brass to be prone to splitting after sitting around for so long.

On shipping, I suppose it would ship just like ammo.

If you decide you want the brass even though it's primed and ancient, I would check with the local UPS office in person to find out the rules.

Looking on their website, it seems doable with an "ORD-M" label on the box and very little more, but like I say, I would check with them to be sure.

Let me know if you still want the brass.

The brass is primed

by Charles, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 09:34 (4276 days ago) @ FOG

ORM-D marked on the outside will get it here without any problems. I shoot brass that is much older than that. I am still shooting some 1901 30 US (Krag Brass). I don't think brass had problems sitting unfired, unless it is nickel plated. I have had some old nickel plated stuff split on me.

Send it on, for it's rightful destiny. But, if you want somebody to collect it and put it in their shrine, I am good with that also.

I am also shooting a lot of late 50's Norma 44 Mag brass that I got unfired a years or so ago. Works fine. I guess I just don't have a collector's soul. ;-)

You got it

The only 'condition' is GH.

Which I'm sure yours is. :-)

I do have that 'collector' thing going on at times

by FOG, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 09:46 (4276 days ago) @ Charles

But I've also shot up more vintage ammunition than you would probably believe.

People seemed to avoid it like the plague, but I always thought it was one of the best deals going, so I took advantage of it many, many times at gun shops and shows.

Coincidentally, the only 'bad' thing that ever happened was the brass split, and the biggest adjustment I ever had to make was to shoot the ammo in a revolver instead of an auto (it was .45 ACP ammo).

Anyway, to get back to the subject, I gather you know about shipping primed brass, so when you email me your address, please include instructions.

In case it's not obvious, I've never done it before, and I'd prefer to stay out of jail. ;-)

NOTICE: Regarding shipping

by FOG, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 12:55 (4276 days ago) @ FOG

Not going to get to it today, but I hope to ship all the packages tomorrow.

I will email each recipient when their package is on the way.

:-)

This is, too

by FOG, Thursday, March 14, 2013, 10:38 (4275 days ago) @ Charles

And, since the package could use a little [*AHEM*] ballast, it will accompany the W-W "primed shells":

I'm pretty sure it will go BANG!

SHIPPED!

Just to be clear

by FOG, Thursday, March 14, 2013, 18:27 (4275 days ago) @ FOG

I sent you the whole 50-rd box of vintage Remington .44 Mag ammo, Charles, not just the single round. :-)

Also, I never place any conditions on gifts, but if you shoot this stuff, I hope you'll chronograph some of it and share the results with the board.

That should be real 'enlightning'. :-D
