Dropped the wife off at the airport this morning...
She's on her way to New York. She'll be gone til the end of May. Awhile back she accepted an invitation from the National Academy of Arts. Not too bad for a hog farmer's daughter from Lincoln County!
Working out the logistics was a headache. We finally found a place in the "meat-packing" district around Chelsea for her to sublet on Monday. Got the key yesterday. In order to get all her equipment, supplies, clothes and stuff we had to pack about 10 boxes with specific mailing instructions. Kind of reminds me of putting together "drift" boxes for thru hiking the AT.
Anyway, my job, while she's absent, is to finish the repairs to the house(I've still got some stuff to do from the tornadoes that rolled through here three years ago), and be ready to get it up for sale by late spring, early summer. It's time to move on.

Not the sort of invitation can deny or turn down.
Just guessing such an invitation comes seldom and to few recipients.
Actually Lou...
I don't think it's that big a deal, she's been there before. I think she just needed an excuse to run around Manhattan for a few months.
Really what her ultimate goal is this trip is to persuade a gallery or two to handle her work. If, and it's a pretty big "IF", she's able to persuade a New York gallery to handle her work, well, that is a pretty big deal in the art world.
