craigslist turns up another one
I found this on craigslist last night. It came with a nice vintage holster.
back of the holster
It's a Red Eagle
It's in the 7xxx range
There are some spots of holster wear on this one, but I'm happy with it. The light is washing out the blue on the slide. It's a nice looking pistol, and is from back in Sturm, Ruger & Co.'s early days. I'm going to have to try it out one of these days.
WOW, Classic Alaskan trail gun. Great Eubanks holster!
You're living right, Ray! I PM you on FB a young man at U OF A is wanting a good pistol. He can use your expert guidance.

I must've held my Ipod the wrong way for the pics to
turn upside down here. I wasn't trying to make anyone stand on their head to get a better look.
Original "Red Eagle" grip? That IS an early one. Nice.

I've seen a handful of these 22 pistols over the years
Of the Red Eagles I've seen at gun shows, or that were owned by others, this is the best looking one. Years ago a friend of mine had one for sale for what seemed to be a high price at the time and it was only in fair condition. The paint in the Red Eagle was faded and chipped. His gun may have been one of the rarer ones though. All I knew at the time was that it was a Red Eagle Ruger and I knew just enough about them to be impressed with his gun.

1950 production according to Ruger's website. Earliest one I have ever owned was 1955.
Gotta love CL in Fairbanks. Nobody cares about firearms being advertised there. Around here a gun ad, even cryptic, gets flagged immediately.
