Ever seen a Marlin lever action in 30 carbine?

Saw one today - didn't know they had ever existed. Looks like a scaled down Savage 99 and has a single column box magazine.

I think at least one of the regular posters here has one

Yup, it's called the Levermatic

They made rimfire versions in .22 and .22 Mag, and centerfire in .218 Bee, .256 Winchester, .30 Carbine, and maybe one or two others (.357?). Made from the late 50s to the early 60s. I had one of the .30 Carbine versions for a couple of years, then sold it to a buddy of mine.

ALSO MADE IN .256 WINCESTER AS MINE IS.

I have seen them in other calibers but the 30 carbine

Hey Tom, did you handle it?

I guess not, or it wouldn't still be in the store. Those things are dandy little rifles, made back when Marlins were as good as it gets.

Yes but it was at Franklin Gunshop and they thought very highly of it.

i'm pretty sure Glen, that the chambering was .22Remington Jet, not the Bee.

Yup, you're right.

it's not uncommon to see high prices on them with the 256's going for more than the 30C. I have never seen one in 22Jet and some collectors question whether or not many, even any, were made. The 30C version with proper handloads is good for headshots on deer to a hunnert yards.

Although it was listed as being chambered in the.22 Remington Jet, I don't think Marlin ever actually released any. Just .256 Winchester (I have one) and .30 Carbine.

Great little shooters. I sold a bunch of .256 Win ammo to a guy down in Texas whose grandkids used the rifle to shoot deer from blinds. Apparently on the smaller Texas whitetails the 60 grain hollow point bullets worked fine.
