Need someone to rebuild 1886 Hammer
As I remember it either the rifle or my Dad and the rifle took the quick route off of a small cliff up in the Cimarron (sp) area back in the late 50s.
Gun was not in my possession for many years and now that it is, I have replaced the cracked stock, but the halfcock and part of the spur is "gone". Seems Pop explained something spectacular, but that was way back when I was a kid and missed the finer details.
Gun shoots great for the kind of loads I will shoot out of it (cast projie and 1000-1400 fps), but would like the half cock position back for safety reasons.
Who could I send the trigger to for a rebuild.
I'm guessing the hammer removal is pretty straightforward.
Heck may even consider the purchase of a replacement hammer if someone has a source, in fact if "reasonably" priced, would prefer that.

When I hear "1886"...
...I think "Doug Turnbull."
Probably like cracking a nut with a sledgehammer, but that was my thought.
