Spent a fair amount of time over the years with John at NRA and NSGA conventions. Was on the original Bof D of the OAHA program. Prayers for the family.
Wasn't John one of the original "Rifle' magazine writers?
He certainly has a quality career and contributions to the sport.
He was the Dean of Texas hunting and shooting writers
for quite a long time. He had a regular article in one of the Houston papers for many years. He wrote mostly about Texas Gulf Coast and South Texas hunting and shooting. If you were an active hunter and shooter in those areas (which I was), you would cross paths with him from time to time.
He was a fine writer, sportsman and person. We are not producing folks like him anymore. Pity!
His generation had a knowledge civility and literacy .
