Any of you try HS6 in the 45 ACP? I'm not very happy with the accuracy I'm getting from 6.2-6.4 grains Unique with 230 FMJ ball loads. Looking for something better and I have lots of HS6. Looks like 8.4-8.6 grains would get me in the 800-820 fps range.
yep I've used it book loads

You might try 231 Red Dot Or Universal Clays as well The last is much cleaner.

Was the HS6 fairly accurate? I haven't tried Power Pistol or 231 yet but both are supposed to be great. Just wanting to try what I have before buying something new.
I haven't found an inaccurate 45 ACP load...or .44 spl/mag

for that matter. In truth I have loaded a little bit of everything using up old stock powder at shops I have worked at and 30 pounds + of Bullseye for most of my 45 ACP loads. Bullseye is dirty but very economical. One year I bought 10 pounds of it one sale and few months later was gifted with a almost full 8 pound keg of Bullseye...

Thirty pounds of bullseye is a lot of shooting. Wasn't the military ball load 5 grains? Been a while but that's what pops up in the memory bank.
3.5 grains and a 225 will knock a bowling pin down nicely.

I've used it with Hornady 230 FMJ FN bullets, accurate and 100% fnction. My go-to powder is 231 but HS6 works fine.

I've been wanting to try 231 for a while but I have so much powder already I hate to buy more. 231 is so useful I'm sure I'd use it though. I have a full pound of bullseye too I ought to try.

"Since this new barrel was really showing promise, I went ahead and fitted a Maryland Gun Works match bushing per Kuhnhausen’s shop manual, and shot from a rest at 50 yards. The 3-shot cluster is probably what the gun can do; the flyers were the best that I could do, on this particular day. Still, it went under 3.5 inches, which makes me pretty proud of the reload if nothing else. The load was 8.1 grains of HS-6 under Sierra’s excellent 230 grain JHC. The Navidrex grips (from Brownells) aren’t bad for “cheapies” either."

That's pretty good! I have a lot of HS6 and it meters well so I'm hoping it works out well. Gonna load some up tonight and shoot them this weekend. Thanks Sarge
I use Accurate No 5 in my 45 ACPs for USPSA shoots

where my comp uit requires velocities above 1200 for the comp to work efficiently....and I am running about 1230-1250...and am happy as a clam...but these are Plus P+ loads....my FN Tacticals were designed for such...
Is that the FNP-45 Tactical?
