In Texas this is Confederate Hero's Day, a state holiday since 1931 which falls on Lee's birthday each year. It is a time to honor those Confederate soldiers who fought and often died in the cause of Southern Independence. This morning at 10 AM we will gather at the old Brownsville Cemetary for a short ceremony of honor and remembrance as their are many Confederate veterans burried there.

Days such as these seem more relevant today, as our current goverment moves farther and farther away from the founding principals of America's founders. Our Confederate ancestors saw themselves as the people who were following those principals in the face of a growing and reaching Federal goverment, that sought to control the individuals and the states in their web.
