FW Gun Show.

I thought I would go to the Ft. Worth gun show this morning. The Will Rogers complex is huge, and it hosts all kinds of mega-events, so there is plenty of parking. Except for this morning. By 8:45, all the lots were full and closed, and there was still gridlock traffic for miles on all streets leading in. The show is going to be absolute bedlam. One baby stroller will gridlock an entire aisle for hours.:) I think I'm glad I missed it.

Even the underground parking garage?

I'm OK with being out of town this time <G>

Yep.

I always park in the garage, near the back to use the dealer's entrance. I was about 4 cars from the safe point when the full sign went up.

JLF... question about your FFL

by D Sikes @, the Ozarks of Missouri, Saturday, December 22, 2012, 11:44 (4336 days ago) @ JLF

Hiyas...

have a question about your FFL... do you have the type 1 or type 7 FFL? and do you have the SOT?...

I'm seriously considering getting mine this time but unsure which one to apply for..

Thanks

Don

I just left my local shop

They opened at 10am and there was a line of 15 waiting to get in.

Local Gander Mt has had Colt AR's languishing for.....

by John Meeker, Saturday, December 22, 2012, 12:53 (4336 days ago) @ SK grips

months at near 1500.00, as late as week ago. Nary anything CF AR left there, now. Just a few .22 versions. I'd guess that Bass Pro across town, which had the same sort of AR inventory, but a bit better, has cleared similarly. My modest little local FFL order shop, just down the road, is swamped.

Indeed -- IT'S POWAH TO DA PEEPLES, all you Disarmament Lefies -- just not quite like you thunk.

Yes, ironic - gun grabbers wanting to take away

Just driving everyone to stock up more!

I always like that show. Really miss all the big gun shows since I had to move from Coppell to Ohio. Last show here was crazy and that was before the latest events. My LGS's are sold out of AR's and assorted others items and can't get more.

JLF... question about your FFL

by JLF @, Saturday, December 22, 2012, 18:28 (4336 days ago) @ D Sikes

I have a type 1, which is the standard non-pawn shop dealer FFL. I don't know what a SOT is.

Thanks...

the SOT is the clas 3 ticket for full auto, silencers, etc.

I was thinking of getting the type 7 license which would allow me to assemble 1911's and AR-15's from parts... GRIN

Did you get your change of address taken care of for you FFL?

Thanks,

Don

There are a variety of license types, but what the ATF says, and what the real world experience reveals, is often quite different. I don't have that much experience with the different types, but others do, so more research might pay you dividends.

If you are going to handle a lot of NFA stuff, a class 3 will pay off big time. No $200 tax pop and red tape everytime you aquire something new. Nobody says you have to sell your "inventory" within any time limit.:) Doing transfers at this level can also be profitable, but requires some time and effort.

After fighting, and losing the Battle of Austin, I have retreated to Ft. Worth, where I have had to start the process all over. This time I was prepared, and pretty much had the go-ahead from the local ATF, having fullfilled all their requirements, before I packed a box. All that remains is the processing, and final verdict, which should come mid-January.
