I am surprised the police are letting her sell it, some good folks there.

We had an STg44 turned in a year or two ago.

A "buy back", they got a $200 gift card for it since it was an evil assault weapon.
I'm sure it was shredded.

A few years ago the local PD got a Thompson

A little old lady came in to the police office with a burlap bag and dropped it on the counter. She said "Here, this was my late husbands and he's dead and I don't want it.". In the bag was a Thompson that her husband was issued during WWII, and sorta forgot to turn back in when he came back from the war. My good friend at the time was the department armorer. I showed up during lunch break during one of their training sessions and got to spend an hour shooting the old thing.... It was FUN!!!!!

My understanding is that if it ain't registered, it CAN'T be

registered and so it can't be sold. If it can't be sold all it is is scrap metal. What a shame. It wasn't just issued to SS troops either.
