Every Day Carry Weapon

by Art @, Littleton, Colorado, Friday, December 07, 2012, 18:46 (4351 days ago)

I am in search of a truly every day carry gun. One that does not need a belt holster. I have tried the J Frames before but have ruled them out. I am leaning towards the Ruger LCP. Any suggestions or experiences with the LCP would be appreciated.

Thanks

My LCP is the only carry weapon I have had that I forget its in my pocket. I sometimes carry it in a shirt pocket under a coat. And it is a dandy in the pockets coats have now that are on the inside at the chest.

One thing I recommend is to buy the Pachmeyer rubber slip on grip enhancer (about $10). Its sort of sticky type rubber which makes it much easier to shoot and to help it from falling out of a pocket

LCP for me, see?...

...with a CT laser. Even when I have a 45 strapped on, that LCP is in my right front pocket, and an extra mag in the right rear.

Yup with those sights Elsie Pea needs the laser

I probably pack mine more than anything else. Like you, even if I'm carrying something else Elsie commonly rides along.

a 380m in your pocket is better than a 45 left at home

That's why I carry a spare mag in my back pocket!...

...I'm not supremely confident that one mag of 380 will handle all applicable social conflicts.

I need to get somebody to make me a back-pocket double-mag carrier.............

Good idea - too bad we don't know anybody who could make it

i thought about that, but find a belt PLUS suspenders redundant and repititious!

Stayin' out of places you think you might need a gun is a real good idea, but since I retired it seems like every time I have really needed a gun has been within sight of the house.

To be part pit bull or boxer. If he got out I'd hate to take him on with a 380. Think I'd need Matthew's 45 for that! Dog doesn't appear overly aggressive but he still makes me nervous at times.

I carry the little LCP every where I go, sometimes I carry a 1911 also. I carry the Ruger in a Milt Sparks POC, in my right front pocket.:beatdeadhorse:

I am very comfortable with my KelTec P32 or the wife's S&W 432. Had the LCP and it just did not float my boat, but that is simply presonal preferences. It is a fine pistol for the intended purpose.

Now that the cold weather is here I am back to carrying a Glock, either a 19 or a 32.

I have an Elsie Pea and carry it every day. But, it is what it is, a close quarters belly gun. If you want to shoot a fellow on the other side of the room, this is not the pistol.

95% of the time, when I leave the house, I carry my Sig P239 in addition to Elsie Pea. This is not a pocket pistol, but a compact easy shooting 9mm. With the Sig, I can reach out and touch someone.

Please.............

best, BUT I LIKE having my hand on my gun and looking harmless while I do it. Like Bill Jordan taught us in the weak side front pocket while the main gun is on the strong side hip. Down side of pocket carry- hard to block blows, impossible to access while seated, slow to draw, unless one has his hand on the gun ready to go in advance...

it's sometimes the only option. An ankle holster is NOT an option, at least for me.

That said, in all but the hottest weather I can usually find a way to conceal a Star BM or a LW Commander in an IWB rig. I've always hated A-line undershirts (make me feel like I'm playing a two-bit hood in a 1950's B movie) but they have their place in keeping a holstered gun from rubbing your hide. With a lightweight fishing shirt over it, you can conceal almost anything.

Little S&W Terrier usually goes along in my britches pocket, though.....
