American Eagle "Gray Tip" .223

by Catoosa, Saturday, November 24, 2012, 20:22 (4384 days ago)

I picked up a hundred rounds of this stuff at the little local show today. 50 grain AE (Federal) brand with a gray polymer tip, marked "Varmint Tip".

Anybody have any experience with this stuff? What kinda bullet is that and how does it work?

Thanks,
Catoosa

Black and white "American Eagle" boxes like their other stuff. Bought some because it was cheaper than any other expanding .223 I saw at the show - same price as ball, AMOF.

I'll try some on the next coyote I see and report the results.....

I guess we'll have to count on your opinions... I have never

seen any of that stuff, asked but couldn't find a friend who'd seen it and we don't have any in the shop. Most 50 gr. polymer tipped ammo I've seen seems to run about 3100-3200+/- fps and open right on up in a groundhog.
