Ruger LCR now chambered in .22 long rifle
I saw the notice from the Ruger website on facebook and immediately thought, "Why not chamber it in 22 Magnum?" I read a little further down and saw this reply"

Lots of you are asking why we made this in .22LR instead of .22 Mag, so I asked one of our engineers:
We understand our customer’s requests for a .22 WMR chambering in many of our double-action revolvers. However, the long, straight-walled (originally designed for a rifle) case is difficult to eject, especially when 6, 8 or more cartridges are being ejected simultaneously. We’re working on it, but we will only provide double-action revolvers chambered in .22 WMR when they can eject spent cartridges consistently and reliably.

A bigger mystery to me is why Ruger chooses limit the versatility, of what should be a excellent hard-use kit gun, by offering it in double-action only format. Anyone who's ever used this class of revolver for small game or pest elimination, already understands the necessity of a single action option for precise shooting. I guess guys who actually take their handguns afield are a smaller influence on the market these days.
Fluted chambers!
Works for HK in high powered rifle rounds; why not a WMR?

Sarge, thier 4" SP101 fits that KIT GUN roll well.
I think the fluted chambers idea is a good one. I think of your sister's S&W .22mag. I am glad she never needed it, but always wished it had a few more shots.
Rob I'm guessing this is a good understudy gun for a 38 or 357 LCR... It's hideous verging on Chiapa Rhino ugliness, but dang, .22lrs are fun to shoot.

That it does....
but the LCR's are lighter and would make a great lightweight trail gun.
I agree, I am glad that they are inovating. No rest ing on
past success. At the same time I sure would like my SR1911 to show up!

I'm obviously not Ruger's average customer...
I know how i want things and I ain't overly enthused about anything else.

A DA only sixgun in 22 LR? I don't see allot of interest in this.
I agree - DA only 22 doesn't interest me

I think that description applies to many here.

If I carried an LCR as a primary or even as a bug I would buy one of these, similar to my Advantage Arms kits for the Glocks. Nothing like having the ability to shoot thousands of cheap 22 LR through your carry gun.
