John K for you
About 2005 I picked up a 1958 vintage Ruger Single Six in Corpus Christi pawn shop for $80.00. It haze zero finish and a frosting of fine pits over 80% of it, but it looked good on the inside and was tight. I sold the X-R3 frame and grips to some guys who were looking for such things. I handpolished the pits out and gave it and
Alex Hamiliton (San Antono)gave it a black satin Gun-Kote. I fitted a XR-3 RED frame and polished it bright and installed walnut factory grips. Both of these were in my parts box from some long forgotton trade. I did a trigger job and went to the range.
The pistol shot every bit as well as my K-22 and the sights were spot on. When all of the accounting was done, I have $40.00 in this pistol. I picked up the old shuck at a gun show for another $10.00. It is made by Brinson Saddlery in Reno NV. All in all, it turned out to be one of my better projects.
Good looking SS, I still have mine from 1957 and it still
shoots better than I can - doesn't look that nice though. I made the holster in High School craft class.
Another successful "rescue Ruger"
Way to go!
Those old puppies deserve to be saved whenever possible.
Why, thankee kindly! Do you still have my mailing address?
Ha! That's not likely, ah reckon.
That is a very nice save. While I've never liked the two-tone concept when it is a nickled cylinder in a blued gun, I do like the polished gripframe look. My favorite OM is a 4 & 5/8" 357 with polished gripframe and Lett's buffalo horn grips. I'm doing a pretty good job of wearing off the bluing.

So you liked short barreled OM BHs in 357 Mag, with buffalo horn grips do you? One to follow shortly. I was told, you could not receive mail.
I do like the two-tone grip frame...
...I have a Bill Snow-modified Bisley 44 Magnum with a bright-chrome grip frame:

Also the prototype of Dave Clements' "Jeff Quinn Special":

(it has since had the grip frame chromed and Sambar stag grips)
Also, of course, my beloved S.S.6:
