other uses for guitar cases

Any of you all try using a guitar case for a rifle case? It would make for more discrete carry but would probably need some modifications. I looked online for already made ones but saw hard sided for $300+ and softsided for $150. Seems a little steep when I can get a used case a lot cheaper.

Soft saxaphone case works well with a folding stock AK or

Unwieldy and bulky for the intended purpose. Keep your eyes open at yard sales, flea markets and pawn shops, you might find one fairly cheap that way. We've been carrying a gitfiddle around the past couple months and it takes up a LOT of space in the trunk. If discreet is a MUST then it might be worth it.

Nobody would think twice about seeing a guitar case. He has cases for his guitars but I was thinking about setting up a dedicated case or two.

That's a good idea. Although some folks target such items for theft as well so it wouldn't be that great for storage if anyone else gets in there. For just keeping folks from reacting irrationally, it's a great idea. To get them in and out of the apartment without anyone thinking twice about it, good. Something that might work even better - a keyboard case. Or get a rifle case and stencil Yamaha on the side of it. :-D

I gave Jeff an old mandolin case...

...it works great for a folded Kel-Tec SU-16.

Oh yeah. For many years when the occasion warranted.

Around here though, folks will steal a guitar out of your car as quick as a gun.

it would really be a transfer case for to and from the apt

He doesn't leave them sitting. We generally go directly to shoot and then back home.

Usually in the 32" or so range. I bought a couple of bat bags in stores hoping to put a collapsible stock 16" AR15 in. One I could kind of work it in but couldn't get it out quickly, the other was too short.

GI duffle bag. Carried by a kid with a beard it won't attract a second look.

I see a guy at our range that carries a short FAL in a tennis racket case.
