From a friend: "Doherty and Woods, Shughart and Gordon: that's why I'm a pink pacifist. I'd spend their lives like water if we were fighting to win, but we're not, and I'm tired of seeing heroes die for nothing. Like I said the other day, there are people who understand what Shughart and Gordon did, and those who don't: they didn't have to be there. Being there, they didn't have to insist---INSIST
, I say----on going in on a no-hope mission. Once they asked, once they were refused. Most men would stop there. Twice they asked, and twice they were refused. Most HSLD guys would stop there. Three times they asked, and the third time they were told, "Go, if you must." And they went. That's some bitter tea, right there. And they went----and they'd go again, now, if they could. Gordon and Shughart, Woods and Doherty: no better friend, no worse enemy. I love and appreciate our killer elite, men who would lay down their lives (and the lives of many, many others) for their brothers."

If you don't get it just shut up.

That story is both inspiring and enraging. The scum that are running this country right now do not deserve the sacrifice of noble men like that, but they will do it anyway because that is what heroes do.
