I see you snuck part of a model 52 in there...

I am sure you must have shot that thing a time or two

over the years.

Yessir! Always enjoy a gun with a backstory and connections

by JohnKDM, Friday, June 14, 2024, 20:44 (174 days ago) @ JimT

Even if I run across an unknown old gun in a pawn shop, I sense the story is there.

Even better when I see one and can hear the story directly, like yours.

The Alan Taylor OM Single Six

To this day is one of the cleverest, and most interesting guns I have ever seen. Privilege that I got to know its creator.

I showed it to a gunsmith in Phoenix a few years ago.

He only works on S&W revolvers and 1911's, but he was so taken with it that he took a number of photos. And he appreciated the modifications that Dad did to it.

I've had the urge to

by A K Church, Sunday, June 16, 2024, 08:39 (173 days ago) @ JimT

find a suitable user grade OMSS, and have copied the features, more or less.

The cylinder work would be a skate for any decent gunsmith.

The ephemeral trigger pull NO gunsmith would recreate in 2024. Could, at least some could, but wouldn't.

The barrel work, and the section of Winchester barrel would be difficult in this age.

The faux ivory XR3 Jay Scotts would show up on EBay eventually.

I think at one point it rode in a black basketweave Slim Jim? I think maybe I gave you one for it. Anyway, that could be copied.

I still have that holster I believe and if so

by JimT, Texas, Sunday, June 16, 2024, 09:50 (173 days ago) @ A K Church

it is yours if you want it.

That holster belongs with that Single Six.
