I was thinking the same thing. I will tell a little true story that is hard to believe. I had a 16".300 blk that I had assembled from parts. I decided to make it Into an SBR so I picked up a different lower so I could shoot it as a pistol, along with an 8.5" barrel. When I got it all swapped out, I remounted the scope and took it to the range. The danged thing was within a half inch of the previous POI at 100 yards!! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't done it myself!!

Or maybe for the intended use the zero isn't TOO problematic?

Neat, removable barrel, but the handguard stays on the upper - so, looks to me like only 6-8" shorter without the barrel. Not like the length is cut in half.
