Oh! That's the "Lock Plate" used for riot control (reply)

I never, as in never ever have even seen one.

The unit that supplies the M16s for the rifle smallarms firing school at Camp Perry is supposed to use them on the rifles there, but I have no idea which unit that is these days.

Are these for police M16s received from Uncle? It might be easier to simply replace or modify the innards with a semi parts. It's not hard, or even that expensive.

If they're for NG guns, they should be able to order them as the part is listed in the TM.

This guy on ARFCOM had some a made up a year ago

www.kdeguns.com

possibly he may still have some.

NOT a detent. It physically blocks the safety/selector (reply)

lever from rotating to the full-auto position. These are the M16s and the department does NOT want officers to move the selector to the full-auto position. The last one I saw was a plate that (IIRC) was attached to the rifle between the grip and the lower receiver with a dog-leg that blocked the selector lever movement. Some company made thousands of these but I can't even find a photo of one now.

PS - I said I couldn't find a photo and then I found this one.
