I have six or seven glocks in different iterations. I dig em. I have no idea how well they really shoot. They hit the target somewhere in the vitals, from the little 26 to the big 21. I am shooting 10-8's on one of my 19's at present which show promise, but altogether they are ... Reliable and consistent. Leaving me time to ponder other things in life, like aim point versus eotech or trijicon versus leupold or ...

I bought a Gen4 21 and leaving the adapters off helped with the trigger reach that I normally struggle with on those guns. I put the Glock 3.5# connecter in it and it seemed to help the pull but not enough. I never could get a good trigger pull with that gun and sold it. I bought this Gen4 19 and it has a crappy trigger also but not quite as bad. I put a 3.5 Minus connector in this one and it got worse...far worse. After some research I learned the G4 trigger is redesigned and it doesn't work as well with the 3.5 connector and there is a middle ground connector that works better but I'd have to find the article to remember which one. Either way, I pulled this one apart, went back to the factory connecter, polished the contact surfaces, mixed some Brian Enos Slide Glide with USGI lubrication grade moly and lubed the slide with it and that made a huge difference. I wish I could go back to that 21 and try it but it's a bit late. I'm just gonna stick with this 19 for now and if I try another 21 I'll get a G3 SF or change the trigger and connecter if I get a G4 and see if that helps. I think my G4 had about a 10# pull and there was nothing smooth about it.

They line up fine for me on the full size guns and don't bother me as much as they do on the smaller ones. I can live with the finger grooves on the smaller guns but I can't get comfortable with the trigger reach on the large guns, even the Gen4 or Gen3 SF. I haven't decided if I'm gonna do anything with mine or just leave it as is with smaller of the two beavertail adapters. I filed the finger grooves of a former Gen3 I had and I liked it. I may do that to this one and relieve the right side of the trigger guard by the undercut because it feels like a shelf digging into my middle finger when I grip it tight.

like the 40's and 9's do; and even those can be overcome by wrapping your fingers over the ridges instead of in the grooves. Take it from somebody who's been helping people overcome this for 20+ years.

The grip reduction takes the grip angle from a LUGER to a 1911. If you shoot a lot of 1911's the Glock will point high when you make your draw. I can't see giving someone 175.00 to grind away a little plastic. Get yourself a pack jb weld a cheap soldering gun and a few files and have at it. J.Michael

You can do many Glock mods yourself with judicious use of rat tail files.
On my personal 19s, I cut some relief under the trigger guard and remove the finger groove bumps since they don't match my fingers. Don't know why Glock did this, maybe except for smaller hands, as the grooves on the full size and subcompact glocks do fit.

The G4 frame size is the same as the SF 'short frame' size previously produced and just might fix your problem.

I also got some slide bite when going through mass quantities of 9mm & .40 at your expense, so I feel your pain. Personally, the beavertail add-ons out there work just fine for me.

As for companies that do this work, Robar certainly does have a good reputation, but a certain unnamable unit contracted with Glockworx a few years ago for custom frame mods. Since the QC protocols of this unit are of the 'failure is not an option' type, I think their work should be good to go.

On the Glock 19, the two complaints I have with the grip profile are the exaggerated hump and the slide barely contacts my hand so that after about 40-50 rounds I start getting some blood trails on the web of my hand. I haven't shot my Gen4 yet without the small backstrap with the beavertail but I intend to soon. I don't really care for the beavertail on the Glock. It makes the grip feel even more crowded. So, I'm hoping that with the slightly shorter frame I won't have the slide bite issue. I got to thinking about this today and if I do still get some slide/hand contact, I wonder if sending the gun to someone who does the grip reduction like Robar might solve both issues. The hump actually angles the slide down toward the web of my hand. I suspect with most of the hump removed it would change the angle of the slide to my hand and may very well solve both problems. I may have to find a cheap used Glock to experiment with and if I can get it right I'll do the same to my Gen4. It wouldn't hurt to have a spare either. Any advice on grip reduction on Glock's-what to do/not to do, who does a good job, should I possibly try it myself, etc?
