been behind the times here lately. Your input has me hunting fot a similar 4" SS/or not. No hurry; have a small pile of steel to incorporate or keep, right now. The stuff seems to stick around, somehow. Glad to hear from you. I've been hitting FB mostly, lately. Also, got my polical clock wound up, too, so am going to have to put a time lock on the keyboard -- soooo many things out there whut needs a kick'o the pants.

Haven't been around DGS lately, but have fallen to the responsibility of selling off a freind's book collection. Not ready yet, but will send list when it goes.

The first revolver and second handgun I ever owned was a 6" stainless Security Six. It was so accurate, and the trigger was good enough, that I shot bullseye pistol with it for years. I still have it (and the first handgun I ever owned, a High Standard .22 semi-automatic).

It was a bit long for concealed carry, even in the woodlands, so I picked up a blued 4" for woods bumming in upstate Pennsylvania.

I like the Security Six a lot more than the GP100s, which have always felt much larger to me. And as much as this will seem like heresy to those who favor Colts and S&Ws, I'll bet your Security Six will outlast any Officer's Model or its variations or K-frame you'd put to similar use.

Good info, and as per above -- a good lube soak helped. Never actually ran across a bone-dry newer pistol. Not even gummy, old oil varnished. Trigger isn't half-bad now, and mostly needs 'use'. ;~`) will look into Brownell's etc. Best thing is....while it's not quite crowbar rugged, it's pret' near that.

I've had mine apart a few times. Didn't break down the trigger group any further than removal but the rest is straightforward. Yep, there's a definite 'stop' in the cycle where the bolt locks up in all of the examples at hand. 'Crunchy' should definitely not be part of the process.

I have read, and many moons ago passed on, an article regarding disassembly and smoothing operations. A quick hard drive search didn't turn up anything so now I am thinking hard copy. I'll have a looksee and forward what I can dig up.

And the new revolver doesn't sound too bad either. I don't know a lot about Security-Six line or their idiosyncrasies, but do know quite a bit about building things and dealing with permitting agencies. Putting up a shed in almost any town of any size will yield a very similar set of problems and fees, one way or another. If the fees are less than 10% of the cost of the building you are doing good.

do tend to 'stack', at least the few I've shot have; added a spring kit from Brownells to mine and it made a world of difference. I've kept it longer than any other resolver or pistol gun.

I have a Bowen sight on the rear of mine. Works real well.

.357 6" Security Six this AM. As described: very light wear. Barely can see the turn-mark on cyl. Grips un-worn, Bore, cyl, throats all good. The FFL shop owner thought it had very low milage; little use. 420.00 landed in my hand.

However, the trigger on DA has a point where you can stop it, and get a nice single action touch-off. There IS also some definite small amount 'crunch-y, in there somewhere, when cycled slowly.

This could be a nice feature, that might smooth up. Or may be of no consequence. HOWEVER, I don't know if it is an indication of some internal Bad Thing. If there is a Security Six article of so, that covers internals, tunes, etc - that would be welcome

On my DA 442/642's, ..etc...my grip and trigger finger and long practice allow me to run the chamber into battery,and then do a similar squeeze off to the one I described on the 'Six'. But, they "do dat" crunchy stuff, either.

Otherwise, I am pleased with gun. However, I may look for after-market sights that 'pickup' better/faster for older eyes.

Now back the shovel and dirt, Taking a break from building a simple shed,. in town. Grew up with sheds...never knew they needed blueprints, approved footers, rot resistant, etc right into a garden-palace, better than some buildings I've lived in. Did I forget the 140.00 building permit? Anyway..good to get some sunshine, sweat and exercise...yeah..that's the ticket.
