My Henry youth model is smoother to cycle than my Marlin 39s (reply)

It's about the same as the 9422M which has a very smooth action. If I ever buy a receiver sight for my Henry it'll get more shooting time than the other 2 combined. I let a couple try it last summer and the wife told the husband that they were buying one when they got back home. I took a lot of convincing but it's true. Henry rimfires are really good guns!

Take a look at the action schematic... (reply)

Two side plates, sandwich the shell handling mechanism. Every dimension is readily available to accurate and fast tooling. It is also relatively easy to detail strip. And, it's a handsome piece.

Since I'm on this Utilitarian Bender, I just could not throw it in the trunk, to live in a case. Besides,I have a TD 10/22 stainless doing that. ;~`)

I am keeping an eye peeled for the right DA SS .357 -- thinking Ruger Security-Six type of combo/hammer .357 banger, but no hurry. what yo want eventually wanders y'r way, at the price for which you are prepared.

Otherwise...hey, da nada, ;~`)

Let me put it this way... (reply)

The Henry .22 LRs are (or were before the ammo shortage) shot a lot and returned for repair hardly at all. I think less than 1% have any problems (one lady loaded a .22 Mag in a .22 LR) but the two I know of that had to go to the factory were back in a week. A WEEK and that includes shipping time! No problems since. Mr. Imperato's company has great customer service.

Jeff bought a 22 Magnum for our dad a few years ago:
http://www.gunblast.com/CoyoteRifle.htm
...and I have wanted one ever since. Jeff also bought a Golden Boy 22LR for his grandson. I finally have a Golden Boy 22LR on the way now, thanks to John Meeker.

If I could only have ONE 22 rifle (indeed, if I could only have one rifle in ANY caliber), it would be my Marlin Century Limited. But those Henrys are fine rifles.

Henry Rimfires

Looking for a 22 plinker and looked at them today in my local gun store. They had both the lever and pump. I know they are not a Marlin 39 or a Winchester 94-22 but those are going for over $600 used on consignment. Are these Henry rifles any good?
I already have a CZ American that shoots 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards but would like just a plinker.
