I had a Mod 60 as a kid - it was very accurate. (reply)

Used to take it out of the stock and swish it around in a bucket of gasoline, then use compressed air to dry. I've graduated to brake cleaner these days. 22lr ammo is nasty.

Got a new Ruger 10/22 ...... for my grandkid.........

Of course, I am going to have to shoot it a lot to make sure it is set up perfectly. And, also to let her grow old enough to have it.

One thing I am happy about it that it is more accurate than my old 10/22. My old one is absolutely, completely, and unbelievably reliable. But it has never been as accurate as any of my Marlin's, even a cheap Model 60. Not bad enough to get rid of, but not accurate enough to get the nod when I go shooting small game. The problem with the Marlin 60 though, was that it was accurate, but after about 125-150 rounds, it would start having various feeding and firing problems until it was thoroughly cleaned. Not nearly as reliable as the 10/22.

This one seems to have the best of both worlds. Accuracy and reliability. I am glad that Ruger has learned how to make them after 50 years.
