That's a nice one, Charles (reply)

Despite my fondness for K-frame Smiths, the old model Troopers are among the finest .38s ever built. The one I have came from a dealer friend who bought a bunch of revolvers at a TVA surplus auction. Most were Smiths with worn finish and electropenciled TVA markings, but in the bunch was this one Trooper in great condition except for a bit of honest holster wear. I'd been "a good customer", so he put it aside until the next time I came into the shop, then pulled it out and laid it on the counter in front of me with a grin.

Now that's the kind of friend to have, isn't it?

The OM Trooper is one of my favorite handguns. I have had one or more for the past 50 years. Here is my current 1956 vintage one in 38 Special.

Mine is a .38 Special, but it dotes on Keith's old .38 Special load of 5.3 grains of Unique under a 158 grain hard-cast SWC. Just got through loading up 150 rounds of that for next weekend's fun.

Congrats on a great score!

Grips. (reply)

Those look to be the early style grips that I assume are the same as a Python. If so, they are worth a small fortune. You might look into the possibilities.
