I ended up with a couple. (reply)

As long as the latch is tight, I wouldn't have a problem shooting....as long as I can load for them. Matter of fact, a box of .32S&W loaded with black powder is good for a case of near fatal giggles.

Too bad it wasn't a Colt Single Action (reply)

You wish!

What we found in my wife's aunt and uncle's house was a gen-u-wine .38 caliber Armero Especialista revolver, with a badly bent barrel. Ain't I lucky.

In fairness, a couple weeks later we did find an Enfield Mark II** in good shape. DA only with a trigger pull that's off the scale, but it shoots good anyway. Carry it in the boat sometimes.

my brother stumbled across an Iver Johnson break top

They are fixing up an old farm house and in the bottom kitchen cabinet inside a stationary box was a candy tin. Seemed too heavy. Lo and behold it was a fully loaded 32 S&W Iver Johnson and most of a box of shells. He figures it has been setting there for 40 plus years. He wasn't sure what he had and sent me a picture - the owlhead grips were a dead giveaway. From what I can figure it is a 1st model and intended for blackpowder. I told him not to dare shoot it. He ran across a Remington 22 pump in the attic last fall that I have in my possession - THAT is a lot of fun!
