After loosing two pistols to AK Airline in PHX, I always (reply)

carry a big aluminum or pelican double rifle case even for just a couple pistols. They are too hard to sneak into a corner and pilfer through like a piece of luggage.

When I used to fly AK Airlines a lot, (reply)

they never even blinked at the counter in Fairbanks when I would declare a handgun in my checked bag. Going back to AK is where I would have trouble and people looked funny at you. I had to show that the gun was not loaded and locked in a case a couple times. Never had a complete bag search though.

COMPLETE search of suitcase when I declared a weapon

A word to the wise:

Checked baggage containing legally declared and transported, locked, cased firearms will be searched, completely, down to the pharm bottles, nooks/crannies, even socks and underwear.

Rifle cases containing firearms are given a much less stringent inspection.

I witnessed this firsthand and confirmed with the contracted employee performing searches. It changes my MO.

Case inside suitcase = dangerous. Case alone = OK

Maybe this is news only to me, but I mention it to those who may not be aware.

One advantage of stupidity is that it gives us a measurement against which we can compare common sense, if not intelligence.
