Yes, the Colt is a Lightning... (reply)

My Grandfather had one in 44-40 that was in real nice shape, with a perfect bore. They have a reputation for being a rather delicate design, that is not capable of withstanding smokeless powder pressures. The new Taurus versions are supposed to be a bit stronger, with much better metallurgy.

Hunting around the 'Net found an issue with the design.. (reply)

not a terrible flaw, but if appears that if you miss the correct magazine loading swquence, a bit of disassembly and screwwin' around is the drill. Not fatal for targets, but something to keep in mind {think a cowboy shooter had the post) They are somwhat hefty, as wll

still and all a lighter shorter SS reliable .357 pumper would be a nice addition to the armory. Go well a revolver, for plinking and stand-by duty.

Have never seen a Thunderbolt in 357... (reply)

Neither have I. Seen plenty of 'em in 45lc. I always thought one in 357 would be the bees knees. Sister has my grandpaw's ole Colt pump in 32/20. That's a lightning right ??

Have seen several in 45, but a 357 would be most interesting. Good luck with whichever you decide to pick up, they both sound like very interesting finds.

The B92 is such a sweetheart to shoot. I love running .44 Special in it, and the .444 doesn't have that flexibility.

Found a Taurus Thunderbolt pump rifle in .357 for $400, and a like new Marlin 444P Outfitter for $500. Didn't buy either, but the prices seem good. May have to do another trip Friday to get the Marlin.
