Interesting how most of us wouldn't have considered 'building' an M-1 or other WW2 guns, but today we have the civilian capability to produce/assemble useful hardware.

length upper for around 300.00 I have 3 of em and like them fluted medium contour barrel. In fact, I have kept a standing order for these as they take about 3-4 months to deliver.

16" LW, 'medium length' upper, flat-top -recommends (reply)

I've built three or four rifles on Del Ton kits. You can get a full kit minus stripped reciever for under $500.

http://www.del-ton.com/ar_15_kits_s/1.htm

All of the ones I have built have been reliable and accurate.

I have used several YHM free float tubes, they have one that has a full rail on top and short rails on the front few inches left right and bottom. They are a bit big on diameter. For a nice thin slick rail, I really like the one in my Troy carbine. Nice, but they ain't cheap!

Not a SIXGUN, but have been looking at Bravo Company/w M16 bolt set up around $750+. Now everyone likes good quality, however ...I'm not going to shoot three - gun, and I doubt the rifle will get much more than 5000 rounds thru it, for assorted reasons.

So, I'd like to hear some of your experiences good and bad with whatcha-got. While a new transmission just hit the slush fund, I do want to get a 'door-kicker' back on the rack. Have irons, and an optic, slings, etc so good there, but will always listen to experience. Want a pretty plain free-float hand-guard, as well.

Thanks; always interesting to read the accumulated wisdom garnered here, by the answers to such broad questions.
