1911 grip safety question... (reply)

Rob,
I'm pretty sure the stainless series 80 I bought awhile back had a drop in beaver tail on it. I know I replaced it with a fitted one by using the 'file to' hardened guides. I'll have a look this afternoon and if its in my parts box, you are welcome to it.

1911 grip safety question...

I'll be picking up my new Colt Series 80 stainless possibly today. It's a plain 1911, no beavertail safeties or high speed low drag tactical stuff:) The only thing I want to change is the standard beavertail to one of the non fitted type wide "T" style that some Colts came with. Someone on this forum (I'm sorry I can't remember who) graciously sent me one a few years ago and it dropped right on to a Springfield Milspec (that I dearly regret selling!) with a standard spur hammer and worked perfectly. Can one of you enlighten me on what that style grip safety is called and where I might find one. I looked at Midway and Brownells and all I'm finding are the fitted style beavertail grip safeties. Thank you in advance,
