A fitting tribute gun (reply)

He got the 1911 he carried as for as Arkansas after the war and they were checking some people's bags so he ditched it along with a few other toys he brought back. He never did get checked so he could have got it back. He couldn't remember which brand he carried in Europe.

1944 Remington Rand (reply)

The prices are all over the place. For a WWII 1911 that hasn't been messed with and in in fair shape prices seem to start around $1000 and go up. Really haven't seen much under that in a while. The Remington Rand is the most common so it is the lowest in price, closely followed by the Ithaca guns. A Colt in the condition of mine would probably start around 2500-2800. Union Switch and Signals in nice original condition are in the 5-6K range.

1944 Remington Rand

Picked up this today. Original finish 1944 Remington Rand. I would rate it 95-98%. Someone squirreled this thing away and actually took care of it. I may have paid a little too much but how often do you see one in this condition? I have been all through it and everything appears correct. I was originally planning on spending more and buying a Colt but couldn't pass on this.

I have a lot of WWII guns but no 1911A1 , with the death of my grandfather last month I really wanted to add one to the collection.

Now to work up a good handload for it
