A little late to the party Don but... (reply)

my buddy Dwayne has the Colt [insert proper model here] equivalent of the K-frame. I've never been good with the Colt names...maybe 'Officers Match'? Anyway, I shot his side-by-side with my 1948 S&W Target Masterpiece. It **seemed** the DA of the Colt was smoother. In SA mode, I couldn't pick up any difference. Accuracy was a horse apiece. I would gladly take either and be happy as a clam.

your opinion on Colt vs S&W DA .22lr revolvers... (reply)

I have both a 4" Colt Diamondback and a 4" S&W Model 18 Combat Masterpiece. I honestly cannot tell you which one I like better. Both are superb revolvers, with exquisite triggers, and much more accurate than I can do justice to.

No reason not to have several of both brands - it's only money!

For a while I collected Colt Officer's Model target revolvers. I had samples of the .22 caliber versions Officer's Model Target, Officer's Model Special and Officer's Model Match. All were superbly accurate (except that I didn't test the one unfired in the box OMM I acquired). I currently own two Smith & Wesson K-frames, a Model 17-2 and a Model 18. Both are extremely accurate as well.

I've never owned the smaller frame Colts, so I cannot speak to their accuracy, but if there's a bit of difference between the Colts and the S&Ws in the accuracy department, I've never been able to find it.

I have an opinion... (reply)

I have a K-22 and I have a Colt Police Positive Target .22 LR. I know, you are talking about the OP Target. Doesn't matter. All good guns. Different but good. Very good. Not generally high level .22 target semi-auto accurate but more than accurate enough with HV HPs. Seriously though, unless it is messed with who can complain about S&W or Colt quality. I would pop for an OP .22, I don't have one.

your opinion on Colt vs S&W DA .22lr revolvers... (reply)

BOTH BRANDS CAN SHOOT SUPERBLY, GRINNER. The S&W brand has a much bigger selection of styles and sizes,J, K, L FRAME, but the Diamondback can shoot up a storm. The first Diamondbaclk i ever fired put the first six in a 1" paster at 25 yards on Nel's target. Most all S&W 22 revolvers can do the same.

your opinion on Colt vs S&W DA .22lr revolvers...

Hey gang,

To start off... a few months ago I came upon a 6 inch Colt Police Positive in .22lr made in 1948 for about $350. The only experience I have with .22lr in revolvers have been with Ruger Single Sixes and Bearcats, and I've had a High Standard Longhorn revolver for about 8 years... I started out back in 1970 with (and don't laugh.. it's all I could afford back then) an RG single action revolver.

I've heard a lot about and praise for the S&W Model 17 or K-22. I was wondering if any of ya'll have had or have experience with the Colt Police Positive in .22lr and how does it compare with the Smith?

Just curiosity... the Colt locks up tight and so far seems to be fairly accurate and serves me well... I would have preferred to have adjustable sights on it but I've learned to shoot with "Kentucky" windage a long long time ago... once I know where the gun and particular ammo hits, I just make allowances for it and go on. so far the bullet placement seems to be to the sights but a bit low... I can adjust for that.. GRIN

So anyway... care to chime in on this one?... GRIN

Thanks,

Don Sikes
